Spencer McGillicutty is a retro co-ed pop group that combines an eye for storytelling and wordplay with an ear for memorable melodies and complex harmonies. They recently released their second full length album, Games on Fastcut Record in Japan. Though they cut their first album as an acoustic quartet, Games blows the band’s sonic palette wide open, incorporating full band instrumentation including drums, bass, piano, horns and strings into a flawless batch of original tunes.
The group formed in 2004 on a college study abroad trip to London. They united over a common love of catchy, well-written pop music, ranging from classic girl groups and doo-wop, to 60s icons like The Beatles and The Beach Boys, to contemporary indie groups like Rilo Kiley and Belle and Sebastian. They now live and record together in a house in Minneapolis, MN.
